WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) released the following statement after President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress:
“Tonight, President Biden delivered a powerful message to the American people informing us that through this challenging time, the state of our union is strong and getting stronger. The President demonstrated the progress that has been made under his Administration, such as investing in our infrastructure, capping insulin costs for seniors, expanding benefits for veterans through the PACT Act, and making our economy work for all of us.
“But there is more work to be done. We must continue our efforts to protect and expand reproductive freedom, secure our voting rights, and defend the bedrock of our nation and of our institutions – our democracy. He called on Congress to act – and it is imperative that we do.
“As the President said tonight – nothing is beyond our capacity when we act together. I thank the President for his address tonight and reaffirm my commitment to working alongside him and my colleagues to deliver for Delaware and the nation. Tonight, we sleep knowing that the state of our Union is indeed strong – and we wake tomorrow to the promise of what’s to come.”
