Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) visited The Rosa Health Center to discuss the Center’s Community Project Funding application for FY2024. The Rosa Health Center is seeking federal funding for critical capital improvements to its existing building in Georgetown. Blunt Rochester is advocating for the application as it moves through the Community Project Funding process run by the House Appropriations Committee. “Increasing access to critical health care services has always been a top priority of my work – from serving as Delaware’s Deputy Secretary of Health and Social Services to serving on the House Health Subcommittee in Congress,” said Rep. Blunt Rochester. “That’s why I’m proud to be advocating for The Rosa Health Center’s Community Project Funding request for capital improvements to its building so that it can expand its vital health services to more Delawareans, especially the uninsured, ultimately creating healthier, safer, and stronger communities in Georgetown and throughout Sussex County.” "This is a need not a want for our community, especially with the exploding growth within the area resulting in the increase of the underserved population,” said Dr. Rama Peri, MD. PhD. “We thank Congresswoman Blunt Rochester for recognizing and addressing this issue.” The Rosa Health Center As a nonprofit organization, The Rosa Health Center has been focused on serving the uninsured and underinsured in Sussex County since 2015. The Center focuses on prevention, education, and an understanding of health as a “well-being”, not just an absence of illness. As such, along with acute illness care, preventive services such as vaccinations, and women’s health care are provided. The Rosa Health Center is seeking $1,082,537 from the Community Project Funding process for critical capital improvements to its existing building which would double the size of the building, provide 6 additional exam rooms, and make critical renovations to the building. The Rosa Health Center estimates that the expansion of the facility would help increase their service population from 1900 to 4000. ### |
