Internships

Applications for internships in my offices for Summer 2024 are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is Monday, March 18, 2024 by COB.

Washington, D.C.

In the Washington, D.C. office, internships run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for college students and recent graduates. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. when not in session. Interns in all of our offices are eligible to receive stipends.

In Washington, D.C., interns' responsibilities will vary. They will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House of Representatives. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.

District

In the District office, interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent case work or work on District-based projects of importance.

To apply, please send one compiled PDF of your resume, a cover letter that describes why you want to intern for Congresswoman Blunt Rochester, and the contact information for 2 references to LBR.Internship@mail.house.gov, indicating the office (DC, Wilmington or Georgetown) and the term you are applying for in the subject line. For example: “DC Spring 2024 Internship – NAME.” Please note in the cover letter or body of the email if the internship is for school credit. 

No phone calls, emails, or drop-ins please.
