WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL), member of the House Committee on Agriculture, issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 2, the GOP Farm Bill, by a vote of 213 to 211. “The Farm Bill is critically important to Delaware, which is why I traveled across my state and spoke with farmers, emergency food providers, and working families. They shared with me how the Farm Bill impacts their daily lives from farm to fork,” said Congresswoman Blunt Rochester. “We are in one of the toughest farm economies in a generation, and the Farm Bill is a critical tool in bettering our agricultural communities. That’s why I am disappointed that House Republican leadership chose to advance a blatantly partisan bill, and it is the reason I voted against this legislation today. The Farm Bill is too important for one party to go it alone, and it is my sincere hope that we can come together with the Senate in a bipartisan process and put forward a bill that strengthens the farm safety net and connects people to healthy and nutritious food.” ### |
