WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester released the following statement after the House passage of H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act.

“‘I am an American at heart.’ I’ll never forget those words of a young DREAMer at one of my town halls. A senior at Delaware State University, this remarkable young woman described to a room full of people her history of being brought to the United States as her family fled violence, her dreams and aspirations of becoming a physician to serve her community, and the relief she felt when President Obama first established the DACA program,” said Rep. Blunt Rochester. “But I’ll also never forget as the young woman described the fear and uncertainty she felt in the face of policies trying to claw back the progress we had made. That young woman, and the millions like her throughout the United States, deserve the certainty afforded by the American Dream and Promise Act. They deserve a pathway to become full citizens of the only country they’ve ever know, and they deserve to be able to say finally and with confidence, home is here.”
