WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) was sworn in for her fourth term in the United States House of Representatives, issuing the following statement.
“Taking the oath of office to represent Delaware in the People’s House will always be a truly awe-inspiring and humbling experience. While the circumstances of taking the oath for the 118th Congress were quite different – taking the oath at 1:40 a.m. - those feelings of pride remained the same. As we move into this new Congress, buoyed by the trust and confidence the people of Delaware have placed in me, I look forward to working across the ideological spectrum - regardless of party identity - to forge consensus and author legislation in the best interest of the American people. Over the past two years, under Democratic leadership, Congress has done remarkable work to strengthen our economy, honor our promise to our veterans, and protect our most fundamental rights. While the new leadership has exhibited a great deal of difficulty completing the first and most basic task of governing - it is my sincere hope we will come together with a renewed spirit of cooperation to build on the progress we’ve made and continue to form a better, brighter, and more perfect union -for all.” |
