Carper, Coons, Blunt Rochester celebrate federal investment in recovery housing in Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. – U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons and U.S. Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester (all D-Del.) today celebrated the successful conclusion of improvements to the men’s sober living facility at Limen Recovery + Wellness that was funded by a federal investment of nearly a half-million dollars. The congressional delegation joined officials and stakeholders at Limen to celebrate the completion of capital improvements that include the replacement of the roof and windows, and upgrades to the living areas for the residents. The improvements were funded by $463,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending secured by the Delaware congressional delegation in the appropriations bill that passed in late 2022.
“Delaware is making great strides when it comes to improving how we treat addiction,” said Senator Carper. “I am proud that funding from the federal, state, and local levels combined with generous donations has allowed Limen Recovery + Wellness to double its bed count and expand its critical services to Delawareans most in need. This is a great example of the wonderful change that can be made when all levels of government and community advocates work together.”
“Substance use disorder impacts so many Delawareans and their families up and down our state,” said Senator Coons, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. “This funding will allow the Limen House to continue providing high-quality recovery services in a safe and secure living environment. Congress needs to keep working to build and address recovery housing by taking up and passing legislation like my Safe SHORES Act to expand the Recovery Housing Program nationwide and help more Americans recovering from substance abuse.”

Blunt Rochester. “I am proud to have secured this vital funding alongside Senators Carper and Coons to support Limen House's mission. This funding will aid Limen House as it expands its reach, providing essential services, treatments, and hope to families and individuals in our communities. I will continue to be a partner to Limen House and stand in support of all those on the path to recovery.”

In addition to the capital projects completed for the Men’s Houses at 600 W. 10th Street with the assistance of CDS funding, the organization was also able to secure additional space at 819 North Washington Street thanks to ARPA funding and generous donations. That location is set to open in the fall.
