WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) released the following statement after voting to table the Motion to Vacate resolution against Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. The resolution passed the House in a vote of 359 to 43.
“Throughout my time in Congress, I've seen firsthand how important it is to find common ground and put our differences aside for the sake of the American people. Most recently, Democrats — along with some sensible Republicans — prevented a default on our national debt, averted a government shutdown, passed the budget, and ensured our national security and global standing with a historic supplemental package.
“That is why I believe it was right for Democrats to table Rep. Greene’s resolution to remove Speaker Mike Johnson. Time and time again, Democrats continue to be the responsible adults in the room, putting people over politics.
“Let’s get back to work.”
