Blunt Rochester Statement on CBO Report for Senate Healthcare Legislation

Today’s CBO report has confirmed that this legislation is absolutely inadequate and does not meet the standards or the needs of the American people.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL), issued the following statement on the report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimating that 22 million Americans will lose healthcare due to the Senate’s healthcare legislation:

“A small group of Senate Republicans drafted a bill behind closed doors with no input from constituencies across the country. When the process is flawed, the product is flawed. Today’s CBO report has confirmed that this legislation is absolutely inadequate and does not meet the standards or the needs of the American people.

“I will do everything in my power to ensure that tens of millions of Americans don’t see their healthcare stripped away. And I will do everything in my power to protect middle class Americans,  and vulnerable seniors, women and children who will face catastrophic impacts from deep Medicaid cuts. I urge my Republican colleagues in the Senate to reject this bill and to give us a seat at the table so we can have a meaningful discussion about strengthening the health and well-being of our country.”
