It is our duty to put partisanship aside and do our jobs. That’s why I am calling on my colleagues, regardless of party or chamber, to join me in supporting the DREAM Act and fighting for a pathway to citizenship for those that best exemplify what it means to be an American.
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL) today joined 174 of her colleagues in signing the discharge petition for the bipartisan, bicameral DREAM Act of 2017 (H.R. 1084). This legislation would permanently protect DREAMers and allow them to remain here and work legally, contributing to strengthening the nation they have called home since childhood. “I’ve had the honor of meeting DREAMers from Delaware and across our nation. I’ve been moved by their stories, their hopes and dreams, and their dedication to the place they call home,” says Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester. “As a co-sponsor of this bill, I am proud to have stood shoulder to shoulder with my colleagues in calling for a vote for this valuable legislation. DREAMers are serving in our armed forces, helping our economy grow at home, and enriching our communities. It is our duty to put partisanship aside and do our jobs. That’s why I am calling on my colleagues, regardless of party or chamber, to join me in supporting the DREAM Act and fighting for a pathway to citizenship for those that best exemplify what it means to be an American.”
