WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Blunt Rochester (DE-AL) released the following statement after the indictments of former Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort and Trump Campaign Associate Rick Gates. “As the legal process moves forward following the indictments of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, we must continue to emphasize the need for an outside, fully independent investigation to expose the extent of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 Presidential election,” said Congresswoman Blunt Rochester. “The charges today underscore the importance of protecting our democracy against foreign entities and preventing people in power from using their positions against the interests of the United States. The American people deserve the truth, and we in Congress require it to prevent future tampering with our elections. I fully trust Special Counsel Mueller to carry out this investigation, and I call on my colleagues to stand against any act that would impede the Special Counsel’s progress.” ###
