Blunt Rochester Issues Statement After Voting Against Continuing Resolution

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL) issued the following statement after voting against today’s continuing resolution, the fourth in as many months.

“Month-to-month budgeting is no way to run a business, farm, or government, and that is why I am unable to support today’s spending bill,” said Congresswoman Blunt Rochester. “When I think about the failure of Republican leadership to pass an annual budget by October 1st, I think about the impact on real people in our state:  the soldier who doesn’t have the best equipment because the Army can’t buy it, the teacher who can’t get access to the resources needed for our most vulnerable students, the nurse who doesn’t have adequate medical supplies to treat Delaware seniors. We are now nearly four months past the budget deadline and being asked to continue kicking the can of tough decisions down the road yet again.  When it comes to funding for the opioid crisis, disaster aid, community health centers, and protecting our DREAMers, we agree on far more than we disagree. We need action on these priorities and we need it now.”
