WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL) issued the following statement after voting against the fifth stop-gap funding resolution of this fiscal year which passed on a 245-182 vote.

“Whether you run a business, farm, or government, month-to-month budgeting is no way to operate, and without a long-term solution on the horizon, I am unable to support another stop-gap spending measure,” said Congresswoman Blunt Rochester. “Since October 1st, Republican leadership has failed to make headway in passing an annual budget, and we are being asked to duck the tough choices yet again. The American people deserve a long-term spending deal and action on issues that touch the lives of middle-class families, like stabilizing the health care marketplace, combating our growing opioid epidemic, and improving our veterans’ health system. We need to act now on these key national priorities.”
